Remarks

Payment must be received by the corresponding deadline (Early Bird or Regular Fee). If payment is not received before the Early Bird deadline, the Regular Fee will automatically apply.

If you wish to become an ESCE member, you may do so during the registration process by selecting the “Non-member + ESCE Membership” registration fee or, following the instructions on the ESCE website.

Please note that ESCE membership must be fully paid for the current year in order to benefit from the ESCE member registration fee. If your membership is not up to date at the time of the congress, your registration will be automatically adjusted to the applicable fee. Participants with outstanding membership fees are kindly requested to settle their balance in advance. Otherwise, you may do it by selecting during the registration process the “Non-member + ESCE Membership” fee. (*) Students (undergraduates, master students, and PhD students) are required to upload, in the “My Documents” section of the online registration system, a document from their institution confirming their student status.


ESCE grants


ESCE will support a limited number of students to attend the conference with a bursary award of 225 €.

Awardees have to be accepted for an oral or poster presentation and should be, or become, a paying member of ESCE. Their mentors (PIs) should also be active paying members of ESCE.

Monday Sept 7: Social Activities

Please note that the following social activities are specifically designed for two different attendee groups and participation will be restricted accordingly

The “Young” activity is exclusively reserved for students and post-docs, regardless of the registration category selected. Attendees who do not meet these criteria will not be allowed to join this activity.

Likewise, participants eligible for the “Young” activity are not permitted to attend the “Seniors” activity.

  • “Seniors”: 19-20 h. or 19:30-20:30 h.
    “Different groups will be arranged according to the final number of participants”.
    Guided visit to the University of Barcelona’s historic building – The building, designed by the architect Elies Rogent (Antoni Gaudí‘s teacher), was inaugurated on 1 October 1872, and marked the beginning of the path towards modernity for the city and Catalan society. (Limited places available).

  • “Young”: Only students and post-docs. 19:30 h – 20:30 h.
    Indoor scape room – Solve missions, work as a team, and participate in a “Spy Workshop”. Foster teamwork in a fun and dynamic environment, challenge yourself with technology, puzzles, and much more in this team-based escape room where you’ll strive to become the best spies. (Limited places available).
Wednesday Sept 9: Social Dinner

The dinner will be held at Can Travi Nou Restaurant, a charming historic farmhouse located in the Horta district of Barcelona. Surrounded by gardens and with a warm Mediterranean atmosphere, the restaurant offers traditional Catalan cuisine with a refined touch, creating the perfect setting to enjoy the evening and connect with fellow congress participants.

Tuesday Sept. 8th: Barcelona City Tour & Excursion

We are pleased to offer the following optional tours as part of the congress social programme.

Barcelona City Tour

Date: Tuesday, September 8, 2026
Time: 14:30 – 19:30 (approx.)
Departure point: Faculty of Biology, University of Barcelona

Duration: 5 hours

Enjoy a panoramic tour of Barcelona, starting with Montjuïc, one of the city’s most iconic areas, including a stop at a viewpoint with beautiful views over the city and coastline.

The tour continues along Passeig de Gràcia, home to some of the finest examples of Catalan modernist architecture, including Gaudí’s La Pedrera (Casa Milà) and Casa Batlló, as well as Casa Ametller and Casa Lleó i Morera.

The itinerary includes a guided visit to the Hospital de Sant Pau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, followed by a stop at the Sagrada Família to admire the exterior of Gaudí’s iconic masterpiece.

Return by coach to the agreed drop-off point.

Sitges & Codorníu Cava Cellars Excursion

Travel by coach to the historic Codorníu Cava Cellars, one of Spain’s oldest wineries, founded in 1551 and a pioneer in cava production using the traditional method.

The visit includes the impressive modernist cellars designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument, offering insight into the history and production of cava.

Afterwards, continue to Sitges, a charming Mediterranean coastal town, where you will enjoy a guided walk along the seafront and free time to explore or relax.

Cancellation Policy


All cancellation or modification requests must be submitted in writing to the Congress Secretariat: secretary@cecebarcelona2026.com

  • Cancellations received on or before 1 July 2026 will be refunded minus an administrative fee of 50 €.
  • Cancellations received between 2 July and 1 August 2026 will be refunded 50% of the registration fee.
  • No refunds will be granted for cancellations received after 1 August 2026, or for registered participants who fail to attend the Congress.

Refunds will be processed after the Congress using the same payment method whenever possible.

No refunds will be issued in case of programme changes, cancelled sessions, or changes to the Congress schedule.

Registration Modifications (Name Changes)

Name substitutions are allowed free of charge until the start of the Congress.

Only one substitution per registered participant will be permitted.

Payment Verification

If the registration fee has not been credited to the Congress account by the time of the event, participants may be asked to provide proof of payment.
